Melanie Moon is a London based textile, surface and product designer, and colour specialist whose practice moves fluidly across womenswear, menswear, accessories, interiors and creative production.

At the centre of her work is a commitment to surface design as language. Colour, composition and material are not decorative additions, but the means through which design communicates its story, mood and brand identity, while leaving space for interpretation, interaction and play.

Her process is shaped by close observation of the natural and built environment, art and cultural shifts. From this she develops a visual vocabulary that balances structure with intuition, and clarity with depth. Alongside a considered approach, she allows space for testing, reworking and unexpected outcomes, using material and colour to explore ideas as they evolve.

Across more than two decades, her work has spanned a wide range of materials and product categories, from fashion print and woven textiles to ceramics, homeware, stationery and accessories. Rather than applying a single design language, each project is approached on its own terms. Colour, print, fabric, lining, construction, trims and hardware are considered together from the outset, so the design responds directly to the object, the material and the intended use.

She is particularly interested in moments where a surface invites exploration, where colour, pattern and material interact in ways that feel unexpected and alive.

Melanie collaborates with fashion brands, designers, creative studios and multidisciplinary practices at every stage of development, from early concept and colour direction through to resolved print and surface design, including the adaptation of existing artwork into production ready repeat.
